In this Ableton Live Tutorial our head tutor, Keith Mills, shows you how to add interest to your drum rack loops by using the main audio effects in your track.
Using a Techno rhythm with dub delay stabs and plenty of atmospheric reverb we explore sending claps and tom drums to our main track returns. By bypassing the usual Ableton send & return effects in the drum rack we send our drum pads directly to a ping-pong delay follow by an overdrive distortion to add some lo-fi grit.
We finish the Ableton lesson with a quick jam to show the power of this feature as we spice up the MIDI drums with more movement.
Adding movement and interest to your tracks is vital to capture the listener’s interest.
The next Ableton Live tutorial will be posted same time next week.
