This Ableton Live Tutorial is in response to a subscriber questions: “How do I stop Ableton giving weird names to my audio files when recording?”
This is a great question and it’s really handy to know the answer so you can easily see what files on your hard drive relate to the clips in your projects. It also helps to keep you organised and as you know; organised equals fast!
Essentially Ableton requires us to name audio clips and audio tracks in advance of creating any kind of audio file.
Live will create a new audio file when you record, consolidate, reverse, freeze and so on…
Depending on the operation we are performing we need to name the recording track or clip being modified in advance. This ensures Live gives it a sensible name and usually a number to let us know how many other versions there are.
